You can apply for a visa at any Malaysian embassy or consulate.
If your country does not have a Malaysian representative office you can apply
at the British Embassy or British High Commissioner’s Office.
Which documents have to be
provided?
To
apply for a Malaysian tourist visa you must send the following documents:
o
Passport valid for at least six
months after the end of the planned stay, plus a photocopy of the passport’s
photo page.
o
One color 45×35mm passport photo,
showing head and shoulders only.
o
Flight itinerary with arrival and
departure dates.
o
Hotel reservation or proof of onward
travel.
o
(If employed) Letter from employer
granting leave for the period of the visit.
o
Proof of financial status. This can
be bank statements going back three months, with a balance of at least 1,000
USD on the most recent one, or travellers’ cheque with a value of at least
1,000 USD. Cash is not acceptable.
Visa
characteristics
o
A Malaysian tourist visa can be
either single entry or multiple entries. A single entry visa is valid for up to
three months after issue and lets you make a single visit to Malaysia; it
expires when you leave the country. A multiple entry visa is usually valid for
one year and allows as many visits as you like, but each visit has a maximum
length of 30 days and it is not possible to apply to extend them for longer.
Visa fee
o
A single entry visa costs around 16
USD. A multiple entry visa costs about 32 USD for most people who require one.
There are different charges for Indian citizens (30 USD) and citizens of the
People’s Republic of China (10 USD).
o
Process at the
immigration desk of airport or land border
o
You will need to fill in an IMM 26
arrival card before the immigration desk and hand it to the officer. Getting
through immigration is usually easy as long as you have a valid visa, but be
prepared to show that you have enough money for your stay.
Tips
o
Be careful with your luggage when
travelling to Malaysia and
don’t transport or carry any item for anyone else. If you are found with illegal
drugs you face a death sentence.
o
Make some copies of your passport to
carry with you. It’s safest to leave your travel documents in your hotel safe,
but the police carry out frequent immigration sweeps and proof of identity can
save you a lot of trouble.

Malaysia Beckons Indians with Easier Visa Facilities
Malaysia is an enticing and pocket-friendly tourist
destination for most Indians. Newly wed couples, film crews, business people
and student groups often make up the majority of the tourists visiting this
Southeast Asian nation. In the year 2015, a staggering number of Indian
tourists – 7, 22,141 – visited Malaysia, making Indians the 6th highest tourist
group amongst inbound tourists from all countries to Malaysia.
Recognizing India’s potential to be a major contributor to
Malaysian tourism economy, the Malaysian government has introduced Electronic
Travel Authorization Visa (e-visa) for a short visit to Malaysia.
In a press release, the director of Tourism Malaysia, Mohd.
Hafiz stated that they were making repeated attempts to ease travel to Malaysia
as much as possible, and e-visa was a step towards achieving that. She felt
confident that loosening the visa process would make more Indians look at
Malaysia as a preferred tourist destination.
Indians residing in India can avail an Malaysia
Visa within 24-48 hours, costing approximately Rs.3000 with an extended
validity period of three months. The procedure has been simplified for
hassle-free processing.
Tourism authorities of many popular travel destinations are
targeting Indian travellers now as their inflow has been noticeably increasing
in the recent past. India’s outbound travel industry foresees the number of
Indians travelling overseas, growing rapidly at 15 to 20 % per year to reach 50
million by 2020.
Malaysian Tourism boasts of their calendar packed with
events and activities throughout the year, promising something new to discover
in every visit, making Malaysia a destination for repeated visits.
Meta-description: Malaysia is an alluring and cheap tourist
destination for many Indians, with newlywed couples, film crews,
businesspersons and students wishing to travel there.

Malaysia Visa for Indians
Malaysia as a country offers a visa friendly policy to
Indian citizens, but doesn’t offer visa on arrival to Indians. One cannot also
go directly to their embassy or consulate in India and apply for a visa.
Instead, the Malaysian consulate requires everyone to go through an authorized
travel agent. But, this is where the problems end. The best part about applying
for a Malaysia visa from India is that Indians get a 12 month multiple entry
visa instead of a single entry visa.
The procedure for the tourist visa process is simple. You go
through either VFS or an authorized travel agent with the following documents:
1) Original Passport that has at least 3 blank pages. If
passport is less than 3 months old, then sometimes the embassy requires bank
statements of 3 months
2) Completed visa application form
3) 2 or 3 passport size photographs (Refer the Malaysia visa
form for photo size and specifications)
4) Return flight tickets
5) A sponsor letter if you have one, but it is not mandatory
6) A Malaysia Visa Fees of
INR 1000 + agent fee of either INR 1500 or 2000 depending on agent
If everything is in order, you can get your visa and
passport in 4-5 days depending on your office location. And the visa in your
hand will allow you multiple entries into Malaysia for a period of 12 months
with each visit allowing the visitor to stay in Malaysia for 30 days.

FAQ’S
What is a
Professional Work Permit Visa?
Professional Work Permit is an Employment Pass for 2 years
(DP10 Visa). Professional Work Permit means that an expatriate from another
country is Highly Skilled and is Offered a Skilled Job in Malaysia. The skilled
categories are the same as in Western Countries – IT Professionals, Teachers,
Doctors, Nursing and Managers. In simple words it is an ‘Employment Pass’
issued by the Government for skilled workers. The initial validity of the pass
is 2 years but it can be extended for 12 years.
A Company (Sdn. Bhd. i.e. Private Limited) needs to have a
High Paid Up capital greater than RM 500,000/- to qualify for recruiting
Foreign Skilled Workers. They need to satisfy the Immigration that they have
Skilled Category Job Vacancies and therefore need skilled workers from Other
Countries. The reason for employing Foreign Skilled Workers is that they could
not find a Local Malaysian citizens with the required skills and professional
background suitable for their job. This is where Professional Work Permit gets
its importance and expatriates are selected based on their Background and
Qualifications. They are offered an Offer Letter by the Recruiting Company to
work for them. Upon signing the Offer Letter, they are given a Contract of
Employment for two years.
This Employment Pass has a High Value in the International
Arena. Those individuals seeking to apply for Canadian, Australian, UK and USA
Immigration/work permits have a higher probability of success once they qualify
for the Malaysian Professional Work Permit. Malaysian Companies are recognised
all over the World. This means that their Work Experience is recognised
internationally. For example Australia issues a 3 months visa for a Working
Individual in Malaysia to explore and find a job there. Many Malaysian Companies
have branches in Western and Far East Countries, therefore an employee can
request for a transfer to another branch in USA, UK, Canada or Australia. This
widens the horizons for an individual who in the long run is planning to settle
in the West and working in Malaysia for the short run.
What is an Expatriate
Visa?
It is the same as a Professional Visa which is commonly
called DP10 visa. An Expatriate has a better potential of securing a better job
career as compared to a General Worker.
What is i-Kad
(Emplyment Pass ID Card)?
Upon Confirmation of your Professional Visa, the Immigration
issues an i-kad (card) used as your Expatriate Identity Card for travelling
within Malaysia.
How can I Qualify for
a Professional Work Permit?
There are several agencies in Malaysia that are providing
Consultancy to Skilled Foreigners for applying for Professional Work Permits.
The Candidate applying for a professional work permit is required to have
Educational background and Working Experience in Skilled categories i.e. IT
Professionals, Teachers, Doctors, Nursing and Managers. Sometimes due to less
educational or professional experiences, it becomes difficult for candidates to
qualify for a Professional Work Permit. This is where such Recruiting Agencies
play a positive role in providing paper-work Consultancy.
Which Documents are
Required for applying from my Home Country?
1. Photocopy or Scanned Passport Copy ( All Pages )
2. Photocopies or Scanned Credentials
3. Curriculum Vitae/Resume
How can I get an Approval
for a Calling Letter in 6-8 weeks?
This is the vital part for the end result must be an
approval and certainly not a rejection. The process is very simple and
practical.
Upon paying the Malaysia
Visa Fees and filing the documents, the agency hands over the
documents to the Immigration. This is the first stage where the agent submits
documents in the Immigration. The Scheduled Meetings by Immigration Officers
for submitting the cases for Pakistani’s, Indians, Bangladeshi, Indonesians and
Nepali Citizens are held on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays every week. The
Agents meet the Immigration Officer and presents the case for the candidate. He
provides documentary proof that the candidate has fulfilled the criteria and
has a professional background to be allowed a professional Work Permit Visa for
two years. The Immigration at this point has the right to refuse or accept the
case. But this is where the agent applies his specialized skills to convince
the Immigration for an approval.
The Immigration after
accepting the case will issues a reference number
This page displays your name, designation applied for, name
of the company, date of approval and your reference number. Upon approval of
your case check on the Right hand side the letter L represents Lulus
(approved). Thus a positive aspect of this visa is that you can view the status
online and check the progress of your visa. The Lead time to receive Lulus is
ten working days.
In the second stage the agent arranges a Calling Visa for
the candidate which allows the candidate to travel to Malaysia from the home
country. If the candidate is already in Malaysia then he would apply for an
extension (further leave to remain in the country) namely ‘Local Conversion’.
In the third stage the Agent issues a levy (Work Permit
Sticker on the passport) for two years. The Lead time to receive the levy is
three working days. This is the final stage when the candidate is handed back
the passport and he is legally allowed to work in Malaysia. For his i-Card
(identity card) he can go to the Immigration Office at Putrajaya, the very next
day and receive his card within half an hour.

Malaysia – Visas
British and American citizens are allowed to enter the
country of Malaysia, and stay for up to three months without a visa. This is
only permitted if the purpose for your travel is either for social or business
reasons. If your stay is going to exceed 3 months or if you are going to want
to be employed whilst you are out there, or open a bank account etc. then you
will need a visa.
But if you are planning to stay in Malaysia for a long time,
and wish to have all of the incentives which are offered to expats out there,
then you should look at your visa options.
Ten Year Visa for Malaysia
Without a doubt, the ten year visa, issued under the Malaysia
My Second Home (MM2H) scheme is the best one to take if you plan to be in
Malaysia for a while. Successful individuals will receive a ten year visa which
will allow them multiple entries into and multiple exits out of Malaysia.
Obtaining this visa allows the applicant to set up a business in the country
and to work part time if he/she wishes. It is worth noting that the ten year
visa will not automatically lead to permanent residency, however.
The MM2H Application
You can apply for the MM2H visa whether you are currently
located in Malaysia or overseas. Once the committee has reviewed and approved
your application, you will have 6 months to submit the necessary extra
documents (medical insurance, medical examination, fixed deposit etc.) before
obtaining your visa.
Submission Requirements:
The following documents are required to complete the
application process, some at the time of original submission and others after
receiving the letter of conditional approval.
- Covering letter (The covering letter should state all of
the names of the people who are applying with you, how you will support
yourself in Malaysia and which financial criteria you wish to use)
- Three copies of IM.12 Social Visit Pass
- One copy of the Application Form MM2H
- 4 passport sized photographs of applicant and spouse (if
accompanied by spouse)
- Certified true copies of all pages of passport/travel
document of applicant and spouse (if relevant)
- Certified true copy of every page of previous passport if
your current passport is less than one year old (Note: only the page with
personal particulars needs to be certified)
- Certified true copy of Marriage Certificate (if accompanied
by spouse)
- Certified true copy of children’s birth certificate (if
relevant)
- A current CV/ resume
- Evidence of financial assets
- Evidence of regular monthly income
- Medical report of applicant - Form RB 1
This can be a self-declaration initially but after the
conditional approval letter is issued, it must be signed off by a doctor in
Malaysia
- Letter of Good Conduct by a government agency where you
currently live (if you have lived there several years) or your home country
(usually the Police Department or Criminal Records Bureau)
- Authorization letter from applicant to Malaysia My Second
Home Centre authorising them to verify the financial documents with the
relevant financial institutions
- Evidence of purchasing property in Malaysia over RM1
million (if requesting approval to make lower fixed deposit)
Visa collection
Once your visa has been accepted, you must submit the
following documents before being allowed to pick it up:
- Evidence of placing the Fixed Deposit – if applying under
this criteria
- Copy of Malaysian medical insurance
- Copy of medical report
- Letter of Good Conduct from Government Agency
Approval
It usually takes about 90 days from submission for your visa
to be properly processed, so make sure that you apply for it well in advance.
Fee Rate
Instead of paying all in one go, the MM2H visa will charge
you RM 90 per year in order to issue you with a social visit pass. This means
that overall, the visa will cost RM 900, but this is only if your visa is
actually valid for 10 years. The Malaysia visa runs in
accordance with your passport expiry date, so make sure you have plenty of time
left on your passport before you a apply. If you have to get a new passport
before your visa runs out then you will also have to apply for a new visa.
- Current passport and previous passport
- Copy of both passports – (every page, but not a certified
true copy)
- Form IM.12 (one per person)
